Battery9 - Galbraak

One F Music is proud to announce the release of Galbraak, noise-mongers Battery9's seventh album.
In true Battery9 tradition, it is a harsh, uncompromising collection of tracks, guaranteed to upset those of sensitive disposition. The sounds of industry (in other words, factory noises) are often used as a rhythmic backbone, while meaty guitars, screwed-up electronics, de-humanised distorted vocals and thundering beats make up the bulk of the rest of the audio landscape. In this way, it loosely sticks to the "Industrial" genre, but a wealth of other genres are flirted with, used or parodied. As a respite from the noise, Galbraak also features the odd foray into ambient "sound sculpture".
Most of the tracks are tirades against stupid humans. Creator Paul Riekert is a self-confessed misanthrope, which is quite evident on this album. Humanity's most unflattering traits are ennumerated and shoved in its face. The well-worn quote by Jean-Paul Sartre comes to mind: "Hell is other people".
Sporadically, Riekert vents his frustration about the South African situation, giving some of the rants a disctinctly local flavour. Buried not too deep within this negativity and cynicism is a balance, the saving grace: humour. Angry and bitter as it is, this album sends itself up in the end.
Galbraak was recorded, mixed and mastered at One F Studio, Johannesburg, with Paul Riekert at the helm.
